Industrial Collaboration

iENGINEERING looks to incorporate academics and their understudies of renowned universities of Pakistan in the development phase of its products. In line with this thinking, iENGINEERING has signed an MoU with HITEC University, Taxila Cantt, Pakistan. A component of this MoU involves providing a selected group of students in their senior year with the opportunity to conduct their final year research at iENGINEERING whilst facilitating industrial projects. iENGINEERING collaborated with Dr. Saad Rehman, Dr. Imran Ashraf, and their team of students to accomplish certain development objectives of Transconomy, in line with the Final Year Project (FYP) of the latter.

The FYP of the aforementioned students was aimed to demonstrate real-time inferencing capability on an edge device for detecting traffic signs in US roadway images. The scope of work for this project included; training a neural network to recognize traffic signs on US roadways, deploying the trained model on an NVIDIA Jetson Nano edge device, and demonstrating real-time inferencing.

Over the period of the FYP, the students thoroughly collaborated with iENGINEERING showed commendable progress and regularly presented updates to the Applied Research Group at the iENGINEERING, Blue Area, Islamabad office. The project team understood the requirements and project objectives, carried out extensive research into the details of how to train neural networks for object detection, convert neural networks to TensorRT, and deployed the converted TensorRT model on the NVIDIA Jetson Nano Edge Device.

In summation, iENGINEERING provided these students with the opportunity to conduct their FYP in our office premises, utilizing our state-of-the-art machinery, work on our industrial-scale projects and gain meaningful professional experience.
